We are delighted to confirm that Ensemble 360 have been engaged to perform in their place. This is a renowned mixed and flexible group comprising five string players, five winds, and piano. Formed in 2005 by Music in the Round to continue the great legacy of the Lindsay Quartet, the group enjoys a glowing reputation throughout the UK and is known for the outstanding quality of its performances, the breadth of its work, and its passion for reaching new audiences. It is regularly featured on BBC Radio 3, and in 2023 its significant contribution to the UK’s chamber music scene was acknowledged in a short-listing for the Royal Philharmonic Society Ensemble Award.

The Lindsay String Quartet performed at Malvern Concert Club in May 1975 and October 1977 to great acclaim. Their leader Peter Cropper was the founding Artistic Director of Music in the Round.

Benjamin Nabarro has performed throughout the world as a violin soloist, director and conductor. He has appeared with the Philharmonia, BBC Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony, English Chamber and Scottish Chamber orchestras, amongst others. He has been first violin of Ensemble 360 since 2009, and also plays regularly as first violinist for the Nash Ensemble, with which he has appeared world-wide.

Gary Pomeroy is a founder member of the Heath Quartet, which appeared at Malvern Concert Club in September 2018. They have received the RPS Young Artist Award and recorded the complete string quartets of Tippett and Bartok, Tchaikovsky quartets 1 & 3 and a Viennese disc of Berg, Schoenberg and Webern, to critical acclaim. They have performed at Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Boulezsaal Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Musikverein Vienna, been part of theatre and opera productions, and toured world-wide.

Tim Horton was asked, following performances with the CBSO/Simon Rattle in 1995 and on the recommendation of Alfred Brendel, to give concerts with the RLPO, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra. One of the UK’s leading pianists, Tim is equally at home in solo and chamber repertoire and is a founder member of Ensemble 360.

Gemma Rosefield was described by The Strad as ‘a mesmerising musical treasure’ and by the London Evening Standard as ‘a phenomenal talent’. Her recording of Stanford’s Complete Works for Cello and Orchestra with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Andrew Manze was hailed as ‘superbly played’ by BBC Music Magazine, whilst Gramophone Magazine wrote that she ‘plays with disarming character and freshness; her technique too is enviably sure and tone beguilingly rounded’.
