- J S Bach Goldberg Variations BWV998
Following his stunning recital for Malvern Concert Club in 2019, Russian pianist Pavel Kolesnikov returns to Malvern Theatres to play Bach’s Goldberg Variations in a specially arranged concert. The Telegraph gave his 2014 Wigmore Hall debut a rare five-star review, calling it “one of the most memorable of such occasions London has witnessed in a while”. He has garnered similar reviews ever since, both for his recitals and recordings. His recent Goldbergs CD is available on the Hyperion label.
Arrangements for a safe concert
To maximise the number who can attend, Pavel will give two separate recitals on the same day, one in the afternoon at 3.00pm and repeated again in the evening at 7.00pm. We are immensely grateful to Pavel for agreeing to do this. On both occasions he will play Bach’s Goldberg variations. There will be no interval and the recital will last around 1 hour 20 minutes.
Notwithstanding substantial progress in vaccination, audience capacity will still be somewhat reduced. However, Malvern Theatres expect around 200 – 250 seats to be available for each performance, though this is somewhat dependent on the sizes of audience ‘bubbles’. Face masks or visors will have to be worn. It is expected that WC facilities will be available, and there will be some bar facilities though with limited service and social distancing. However, there will be no MCC members’ table or programme sales.
Adult £22.40, with discount of £2.40 for Club Members using the code emailed to them.
Malvern Theatres also charge a booking fee of 12%, except for members of the Theatres’ own Gold, Silver and Bronze membership schemes. Please apply to the Theatres for details. Prices including the fee are £25.09.
