Elizabeth Bass is one of the leading British harpists of her generation and in 2016 became the first British person to reach the final of the prestigious USA International Harp Competition in Bloomington, Indiana and was awarded the Silver Medal. Other international and national awards include first prize in the 2014 Camac Harp Competition and an international Lyon&Healy Award in 2013. At the Royal Academy of Music Elizabeth was also winner of the Skaila Kanga Harp Prize and was awarded the Lady Theodore Holland Prize after her Final Recital.

Elizabeth freelances as an orchestral and ensemble player throughout the UK and has performed with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, London Mozart Players, BBC Concert Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra and for recording sessions at Abbey Road, Air, Angel and RAK Studios. She has performed at venues including Vienna’s Musikverein, London’s Royal Albert Hall and has performed for radio and live television broadcasts. Elizabeth has a keen interest in Contemporary music and has also worked with dedicated contemporary ensembles including the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and Lontano. Upcoming highlights include trips to Hamburg, New York and Ann Arbor with the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique.

As a soloist Elizabeth has been invited to perform recitals for the Hagley Music Festival, Oundle International Festival, Proms at St Judes, as a representative for the Royal Opera House and at the David Josefovitz Recital Hall at the RAM. Elizabeth has performed the Ravel Introduction et Allegro at the Royal Albert Hall, the Debussy Danses in Birmingham’s Town Hall and has performed solo at St. John’s, Smith Square. Elizabeth is currently an artist on the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme.

Elizabeth is a member of Live Music Now, which seeks to bring high quality music to those who might otherwise never experience live music, sending them into the community in a variety of settings including care homes, hospitals and schools for children with special educational needs.

Tickets (strictly limited numbers) are available online and from Membership Secretary, Simon Payton at our Malvern Theatres concerts on 24 January, 17 February and 7 March. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
