Malvern Concert Club was saddened to learn that Donald Hunt OBE died on 4 August, aged 88. Dr Hunt was a great influence on the music in this area, both when he lived in Gloucester and as Master of the Choristers and Organist at Worcester Cathedral. He was Director of eight Three Choirs’ Festivals, Principal of The Elgar School of Music, founder of Gloucester St Cecilia Singers and The Elgar Chorale and remained active in composition and conducting to the end of his life.
An evensong in his memory will be sung at Gloucester Cathedral on Sunday 16 September at 3 pm, and a midday Saturday musical event at Worcester Cathedral is planned for January.
